The Pantone Matching System
The Pantone Matching System is a commonly recognized color matching system, which allows graphic designers to match specific colors when a design enters the production stage. The Pantone Matching System is widely adopted by printing houses, graphic designers and is the top standard in flag design. The Pantone colors are broadly used in branding and even in government legislation to describe the official color of country flags. AGAS Manufacturing Group manufactures all country flags using the Pantone Matching System to offer customers the highest standard in car flags, house flags, company flags and car dealership flags. Pantone is a New Jersey based company and their primary product is the Pantone Guide, which contains small thin cardboard sheets in a palette with a series of related color swatches printed on one side to maximize flag color. For example, one sheet might contain the color blue in varying levels of luminance. Pantone colors are identified by an assigned number which makes creating and re-creating designs easier to duplicate.
Pantone recommends that you replace your Pantone Guide annually because the ink in each edition fades over time. In addition, every year Pantone updates their editions with the release of new guides, so often colors can vary between years and editions.
Pantone maintains that their color system is the intellectual property of Pantone. While free use of the list is not allowed , Pantone palettes can be easily obtained from printer manufacturers and depending on the supplier, do not come with usage restriction beyond sales ban on hard copy of the palette.
