1/2/2007 - European Union
On January 1, 2007 the European Union welcomed two new members, Bulgaria and Romania, bringing the total number of country members to 27. The EU flag has 12 yellow stars in a circle on the center of the blue field. The addition of the two new countries will not cause any changes in the number of stars. The European Union is made up of the following 27 countries; Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
10/03/2006 Venezuela
On March 10, 2006 Venezuela changed its national and state flags, and its coat-of-arms. The main change is the addition of an eighth star to the central stripe. The main change to the arms is that the white horse now faces the right side instead of the left.
1/2004 Afghanistan
In January, 2004 the new flag of Afghanistan was adopted by the government of the Transitional Islamic State. The current flag resembles the Afghani flag flown between 1930 and 1973. The distinction is the addition of the shahadah at the top of the coat-of-arms in the center
Congo-Kinshasa
The National Flag of Congo-Kinshasa was changed in July of 2006 when the new constitution was adopted. The current flag is a replica of the Congo-Kinshasa flag used from 1966 through 1971.
